te horo house
The house is sited to maximize sun and shelter and minimize site excavation. The relationships to the sun paths, the approach, the lake and surrounding gardens and orchard were all considered in the placing of the house. Laminated portal frames and exposed double skin block provide an expressed structure to the building. The portals extend beyond the front face of the building creating a deep sheltered threshold between the house and the garden sloping down to the lake.
