A timber portal-framed corrugated metal-clad ‘permanent tent’ 108m² in area provides a secluded retreat in rural Wairarapa. An absence of electricity reinforces the camping aesthetic and prevents the accumulation of domestic appliances other than a transistor radio. Extensive plantings provide visual privacy, wind shelter, bird habitat, firewood and timber in the longer term.
